Another week already, I've had a really busy week cardmaking, mainly because I have decided to try and sell a few of my creations at a local craft fair (
see pevious post), so I've been busy making stuff for that. For WOYWW this week I have cheated a bit as I took the photo at the weekend, mainly because - 1) the desk looked good with all my messy background on and 2) as the days are getting shorter I am finding it more and more difficult to take good piccies of the desk (roll on summer..), so maybe this post should be called "whats on your workdesk, weekend", anyway this "weeks" post looks like this:
These backgrounds were made using distress inks and then adding twinkling H2Os, the photos don't really show up the "twinkly" bits, but they are there. I then made them into cards:
|
This is a Sheena stamp and was painted behind the acetate in acrylic paints |
|
This one was coloured from behind using promarkers, again another Sheena stamp - you can see the twinkly bits on this photo |
|
This one uses Inkylicious stamps, stamped directly on the background and then again on acetate |
Thanks for looking, I'm off to
Julias blog to go and look around a few more desks.
Bye

Wow, what an explosion of colour greeted me on opening up your post! I LOVE it :-) Your cards are so clever..painting behind the acetate gives an amazing 3D effect, especially the toadstools. They really stand out. My favourite is the last shot though...I love that one!!

ReplyDeleteHi Donna
ReplyDeletewow girl your backgrounds are a fantastic starting place for what are amazing cards that you turn out. Your stuff should sell so fast at the fairs because they are so different from what other people do. Make sure you charge a good price for them to reflect how much time you have put in to making them

That's a lovely technique with the acetate there! The backgrounds make for really striking cards. #6

I absolutely love all of your cards. I went back several days.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of combining distress inks with the twinkles. Have never really used acetate.
Does the heat bother it when you emboss, or is that what you are doing? I love the full tree on acetate. Beautiful!
Hi Pat, I'm afraid I can't take credit for the idea of using DI's and Twinkling H2Os, I've been watching Sheena Douglas on the telly and she does that technique. I use heat resistant acetate for the cards, you still have to be quite careful though so you don't overheat it, Thanks for the lovely comments, Donna
DeleteI love using that technique. You're right though, you need to see them for real to get the true effect of the H2O's. Hugs. Pam#68
